Creator Bio
BREATHE is a form of art that incorporates a vast amount of mediums. Mostly drawing but I included some of my collage and photography work as well.
I see my art as a way to understand myself better. I incorporate words that I repeat like Breathe, Inhale, Exhales, God as well as faces inside the lines if you look for them.
Question For Creator: What is one person, place or thing that has had a significant impact on your creative process, artistic taste, or personal life?
Carl Jung, has been a significant person in my personal life for many reasons. He was influential in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, and religious studies.
For me, his “Jungian Archetypes” was my introduction to his work. This idea is that there are repeated symbols throughout the human existence in order for “us” to understand our place in the cosmos. Things like the mother figure, the wise old man, and the trickster are examples of universal archetypes.
Jung discovered the idea of a “collective unconscious” through dream analysis of his patients and studying religions and mythology. From his studies he found that mythologies from all over the world share many common themes. These elements are passed down to us and are not from personal experiences, rather a shared experience. Carl Jung is also described as a Pantheist which compelled me further into his ideas.
His Model Of The Psyche also helped me understand myself better as well as gave me comfort in times of depersonalization(or feelings of being unattached to one’s self).
I enjoy many of his quotes and I believe he has helped me grow into the person I am today in a religious and philosophical way.
I find myself fascinated with sacred geometry and universal symbols like the flower of life, the symbol of the labyrinth and the golden ratio.
I think the main take away from Carl Jung is this following quote:
“There is only one way and that is your way. There is only one salvation and that is your salvation. Why are you looking for help? Do you believe help will come from outside? What is to come will be created in you and from you. Hence, look into yourself. Do not compare. Do not measure. No other way is like yours. All other ways deceive and tempt you. You must fulfill the way that is in you.” - C.J.
In relation to the concept of BREATHE, many of Carl Jung’s ideas are reflected in my drawings and artwork. Ideas like “God is All. All is God” suggest that we are all connected, Jung describes this connection as being connected through a “collective unconscious”.
